Beautiful Animals We Call Horses
Big and Strong and Powerful
Willing to Work With You if They Trust You
Have you ever spent time in the company of a horse, whether yours or someone else's and
left feeling uplifted, positive and focused.
This is the feeling we want to share with as many people as we can with Equine Therapy.
Embrace Your Inner Power at Any Stage in Your Life:
Allow the opportunity to build confidence and self-assurance in a non-confrontational way, which uses positive outcomes rather than negative reinforcement. To push towards pleasure rather than trying to avoid pain. We all have an inner light to shine our uniqueness into the world, but unfortunately it can sometimes be dull or blocked and being around horses can start to encourage it to shine bright again.
Confidence - Begin to have faith in yourself that you can overcome challenges and potentially scary situations.
Self Trust - Believe in your own abilities to handle a situation, especially once it has been repeated.
Self Care - When you look after the horse, it's a great reminder that you too need to be cared for.
Decrease Anger - Feeling of being in control again, that not everything is haphazard.
Respect - An understanding that some things are bigger than you and that's OK.
Things You Can Do In An Equine Therapy Session:
Let's start with the can't - there is no horse riding in these sessions. An Equine Therapy Session goes for 60 minutes and includes a briefing of how the horse is today, an introduction and hello, then the client is able to decide whether they want to touch the horse or whether they would like to stand back - either is perfectly fine. For those who have confidence they can choose to groom it and/or feed it. For those a little more reluctant can stay back at what they feel is a safe distance and interact in the way they choose - which may simply just be watching or it may be engaging in art.
Stroking - As your hand connects with the horse you feel the bond between you increase and the breath slow
Feeding - With a handful of grass, carrots or apples you can feel the tickle of the horse eating on your hand.
Brushing - Learning to care for a horse with the simple act of brushing it is repetitive and soothing.
Drawing - If you are an artistic individual may enjoy sitting back and drawing or painting the horses.
Talking - Sometimes the opportunity to just talk out your feelings to the horse can be very therapeutic.
Grooming - Once you feel more comfortable and with the assistance of the trainer, you can learn other ways to groom the horse, aside from just brushing it.
Your Counsellor, or Our Own Counsellor can be organised to come with you for a private session to assist in the process of opening up and feeling comfortable and confident enough to share what's been stuck inside.
The transformation of being with the horse and feeding off it's strength and power to find your own strength and power.
Our Therapy Sessions will be taking new clients in the Cranbourne area in mid 2024. If you would like to be kept informed, please click below and we will be in contact with you soon.
Equine Therapy is not riding horses, it is centered around being around them and in their presence in a safe way.
