Start the Conversations
The world can be obsessed with MONEY - working out how to get more money and then once we get it,
we can be known to obsess over how we spend it!
Money is close to sex in that there is so much energy used in the pursuit of it as well as in the utilising of it.
Money and Sex both can have a 'power over' if we are not strong enough to set boundaries.
They can be all consuming, taking over our thoughts if our willpower is weak.
And both are necessary in our world if we won't the next generations to continue on.
And both are TABOO topics to talk about!
How is it that we don't talk comfortably about 2 things that are necessary for us as humans?
We are an interesting, that's for sure!!
This post is about money, so let's start there.
I propose that we start to talk openly about money and take away the social stigma that has been attached to it for so long.
To normalise money in a way that every adult is open to talking about it with their friends and their colleagues.
To speak with our young ones and encourage them to understand the fundamentals of money, not just how to count it, before they use it everyday and have to worry about managing bills etc.
I am not proposing we begin to brag to each other, instead to have the hard and more vulnerable conversations around:
Trauma and Money
Race and Money
Gender Equality and Money
The Origin of Money
Why We Use Money
And all the time having these conversations, coming from an open space of QUESTIONING and LEARNING rather than TELLING
And once we are happy with our understanding and use of money, that we then share that with the next generation.
